The W123 project was started during the first half of the seventies. In 1977 the coupé version was presented, obtained by shortening the wheelbase of the sedan by 8.5 cm and eliminating the central pillar. The doors had no upper frames, while the roof was lower and the rear window slightly more enveloping. The tail and front were almost identical to the other bodywork configurations. The model name followed the same criteria as the other versions, but in this case it was followed by a C and, in the case of injection, also by an E. At the time of the debut, the 230 C versions were available (2307 cm³, 109hp ), 280C (2746 cm³, 156hp) and 280CE (2746 cm³, 177hp).

The model we propose is the 280CE version registered for the first time in Rome in January 1978.

The car has been restored respecting its originality, the exteriors in fact remain painted in its original "Astralsilber" color (735) and the interiors entirely in leather with a blue contrasting color. It has 4 owners (including the current one). The car is equipped with its original air conditioning to which the modification has been made for modern gases, there are also side armrests on the front seats and the central one for the rear seats, the front headlights are equipped with windshield wipers for cleaning, the tow hook it is approved in the manual, but is not mounted on the car. There is only one small defect, the driver's side panel is broken, but easily repairable. The price also includes a set of 4 original Mercedes-Benz alloy wheels (visible in the photo).
