In 1977, what we could define as a significant technical turning point was presented for the small sports car from Autobianchi, with the adoption of a monocoque called "B2", specifically created for the "A112 Abarth", distinct from the derivative model, in anticipation of a significant increase in power.
The A112 Abarth 4th series was completely redesigned externally with a new front design, new rear light clusters connected to the license plate holder, side bumper strips, eye-catching dynamic air intake on the bonnet and front bumper including the spoiler. The characteristic "Autobianchi Abarth" writing with the two round grilles disappeared from the grille and, considering the increase in stature of the new Italian generations, the roof was raised by 2 cm, giving the car from this series and subsequent ones, the nickname popular of "square roof". In concert, the previous series are popularly referred to as "round roof". In January 1978, the last update of the 4th series was presented, the Autobianchi A112 Abarth 70 HP 4th series.
Autobianchi A112 Abarth 70HP registered in Italy for the first time in 1978 with an excellent sporting past, both in rallies and uphill races (Cividale-Castelmonte).
